MAYFAIR DIAGNOSTICS SUNRIDGE PLAZA NOW OPEN

Mayfair Diagnostics is pleased to announce that our newest clinic Mayfair Diagnostics Sunridge Plaza is now open. Located in unit 150 at 3363 – 26th Avenue NE, our new clinic is across from the Peter Lougheed Centre, beside the Best Buy, and between Dental Care for Children and the Five Guys restaurant.

Mayfair Diagnostics Sunridge Plaza offers walk-in X-ray and general and MSK ultrasound services. It’s also the new location for the Mayfair Diagnostics Vascular Lab that was previously located at our Mayfair Place location.

For almost 20 years, the Mayfair Diagnostics Vascular Lab at Mayfair Place has been offering sub-specialized, multidisciplinary diagnostic imaging that is non-invasive to care for our patients’ vascular needs. This same level of vascular expertise and care has now been moved to the Sunridge Plaza clinic.

“We have moved our vascular lab to better serve our patients and referring specialist physicians. It’s especially ideal for vascular surgery patients who receive coordinated vascular interventional care and often have same-day clinical appointments at the Peter Lougheed Centre, especially for patients coming from out of town” says Dr. Murad Bandali, radiologist and Mayfair Diagnostics Sunridge Plaza medical director.

Our Sunridge Plaza clinic is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday. You will need an imaging requisition from your health care practitioner for both X-ray and ultrasound exams. Walk-in X-ray patients don’t require an appointment. Ultrasound patients can drop by to book an appointment or call our central booking number at 403-777-3000.

Please note that every vascular referral is triaged by our vascular team to ensure the most appropriate testing is performed for optimal patient care. Our experienced vascular team includes sub-specialized vascular interventional radiologists, registered vascular technologists, and an accredited clinical vascular scientist with an MSc in vascular imaging who is also the Sunridge clinic manager. This team ensures that our patients receive expert imaging that is appropriate for their medical history, and quality reports that help ensure an accurate diagnosis.

“I am very excited to start welcoming patients and look forward to being a part of the Sunridge community. We have an excellent team who pride themselves on providing the best patient care and diagnostic imaging possible,” says Simon Greenwood, Mayfair Diagnostics Sunridge Plaza clinic manager.

Mayfair sonographers have received additional sub-specialty training to allow them to better perform a wide variety of ultrasound exams, including a full range of imaging for expectant mothers through each stage of pregnancy, musculoskeletal ultrasounds, which look specifically at muscles and joints to determine the source of pain or other symptoms, and vascular ultrasounds, which assess the blood vessels of the body.

Using sound waves, a ultrasound exam looks at the blood flow in your veins and arteries. High-frequency sound waves are transmitted from a handheld device, called a probe or transducer, which is placed on the body and moved around the area of interest. A gel is applied to the skin to aid in the movement of the transducer. The transducer collects the sounds that bounce back and a computer then uses those sound waves to create an image on a computer screen. Ultrasound exams are noninvasive, don’t use radiation, and images are captured in real-time, showing the movement of your blood flowing through your blood vessels.

Vascular ultrasound exams can range from 30 minutes to one hour depending on their complexity. Please visit the vascular ultrasound services page for information on specific exams.

Vascular ultrasound imaging must be requested by a health care practitioner who will provide a requisition. Your medical and family history, risk factors, and the type and duration of symptoms, all affect a referring physician’s decision on which type of imaging is appropriate.

When we receive your requisition Mayfair Diagnostics will contact you to schedule your exam and provide you with detailed information to prepare for it. Once your exam is completed, your images will be reviewed by a specialized radiologist who will compile a report that is sent to your doctor.

Mayfair Diagnostics Sunridge is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday. Parking is free and is located near the front entrance of the clinic, within the plaza.

Please note this clinic’s operations are aligned with guidance from Alberta Health Services and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta; patients are asked to wear masks at all times while in our clinics to minimize the potential spread of the COVID-19 virus or other transmissible respiratory infections. If needed, we can provide you with a mask. Increased health and safety protocols remain in place, including isolation areas for patients with cold or flu-like symptoms and/or risks of exposure.
